Gainesville, Florida
We gather today to raise a laugh, share a tale, and honor the life of a beloved soul, Scott "Scooter" Mann, who passed on March 11, 2024. Born in Salt Lake City, UT, on June 17, 1960, to Elaine and Alvin Mann, Scooter wandered through Bountiful, Salt Lake City, and Delta, Utah, before finally setting his roots down in Gainesville, Florida.
Scott was a combustion turbine tech at Duke Energy until his retirement, a job that, much like him, was full of energy and sparks. Known for his wit, he often livened up the workplace with his humor. But it was his compassionate, loving, and generous nature that truly set him apart. He believed in taking care of those closest to him, a trait that was evident in his every interaction. His wife, Teresa Mann, his children Marina Noon, Caitlin Robertson, Patric Mann, and Kirsten Mann, were the most frequent recipients of his boundless love and generosity, but they weren't the only ones. No matter the circumstance, Scott was always ready to lend a helping hand, a comforting word, or a shoulder to lean on for the people in his life.
As we remember Scooter, let's hold onto the words of Mark Twain, "The secret of getting ahead is getting started." This was a mantra Scooter lived by, always ready to plunge headfirst into whatever challenge life threw at him. A man of humor, wisdom, and love, he left an indelible mark on the lives he touched. Even though he is physically not with us, the memories of his vibrant personality, hearty laughter, and warm heart will forever live on.
The services are under the thoughtful care of Milam Funeral and Cremation Services at 311 S. Main Street. We encourage those who knew and loved Scott to share their memories and upload photos to the memorial page. In this way, we can all continue to celebrate the life and legacy of our dear Scooter. Today, we are not just saying goodbye, but expressing our gratitude for having had such a remarkable man in our lives.
