Sarah Simms McKinley

Sarah Simms McKinley, 76, died at home on Thursday, September 6, 2001. She was born in Talladega, AL, moved to Orlando, FL in 1947 and Gainesville in 1967. She attended the University of Oklahoma and graduated from the University of Alabama. She was active in the Junior Leagues of Orlando and Gainesville. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority and worked to establish the chapter at the University of Florida. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Gainesville. She is survived by her husband, Paul; daughters, Catherine Thompson of Orlando, Anne Shirley of Maitland; sons, James Trapp of Gainesville, Mark McKinley of Merritt Island, Scott McKinley of Crystal River; brother, Brittain Simms of Orlando, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, September 10 at 2PM with Dr. Robert W. Battles, Jr., conducting the service. Burial will be private at a later date. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hospice of NCF, 4200 NW 90th Blvd., Gainesville, FL 32606. Funeral arrangements are under direction of MILAM FUNERAL HOME, 311 S. Main St., Gainesville.
