Rogelio Valencia

–

Gainesville, Florida

Rogelio A. Valencia, 80, of Gainesville, Florida, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on November 9, 2025. He was born on September 10, 1945, in Misamis Occidental, Philippines. He passed away surrounded by his loving wife Elena, and children Jerome & family and Chelo & family in Gainesville, Florida. His final moments reflected the same love and closeness that defined his life — a life centered on faith, family, and service.

Rogelio graduated from Cebu Institute of Technology with a degree in Mechanical Engineering (1963–1968). He worked for the National Power Corporation in Iligan City, Philippines, and later served in the Ministry of Defense in Khamis Mushayt, Saudi Arabia, from 1994 to 2014. His dedication and strong work ethic made him a respected colleague and a great provider for his family.

Rogelio married the love of his life, Elena, on November 22, 1969. Together they built a beautiful family and shared a love anchored in faith and commitment. He is survived by his loving wife Elena and their six children:

• Japheth Valencia and children Golden Hope & Edam Roque Tomarong (with son Edam Leigh Tomarong) Liezyl Joy & Joram Otero, Japheth Valencia Jr., Christian & Elena Valencia, and Chris Daniel Valencia
• Joseph & Rosebida C. Valencia and children Mark Bryan & Ceiline Valencia (with Ezekiel Mark & Eliana Selene P. Valencia), Kathleen Rose C. Valencia, Johannah Rose C. Valencia, and Adrian Joseph C. Valencia
• Elinor Cheryl & Bonn Tipon-Tipon and children Sean Kevin & Anglique Tipon-Tipon
• Jerome & Sheila Valencia and children Samantha Riel & Charlize Symone Valencia (and family dog, Oreo)
• Chelo & Richard Ducusin and children Chanyl & Luke Ducusin (and family dog, Lilo)
• Julius & Elma Valencia and children John David & John Bernie Valencia

He is also survived by his one and only sister, his loving and devoted youngest sibling. He was preceded in death by his three brothers, who now welcome him into eternal rest.
Rogelio was a man deeply rooted in faith and service. He joyfully served the Lord as a deacon at Oneway Filipino Christian Fellowship in Gainesville, where he was known for welcoming everyone with his big, warm smile. He sang praises with a joyful heart and without hesitation — his worship inspired and encouraged everyone, especially those leading in song.

In his younger years, he found great joy on the tennis court — a reflection of his discipline, vitality, and zest for life, qualities he passed on to his children and grandchildren.

He will always be remembered as a loving husband, a devoted father and grandfather, and a faithful servant of God whose life was a living testimony of grace and perseverance.

A celebration of life will be held at Milam Funeral Services, 311 S Main St, Gainesville, FL 32601.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
