Trenton, Florida
Robert “Bob” Julian Schwieterman I, age 84, of Trenton, Florida passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 2, 2025, in Gainesville, FL. Robert was born in Dayton, Ohio on August 13, 1940, to William and Louella Schwieterman. When he was just 15 years old, he met the love of his life, Sharon. They were married just a few short years later and had three children together. When the kids graduated High School the family found their way to Tampa, FL and then later, when wanting to move closer to their kids, once again, they found a small lake cottage in Trenton, FL near their children and made it into a cozy home full of love and special memories.
Bob was never a stranger to hard work; he worked full-time at Dayton Press for 22 years and held two additional part-time jobs when the kids were young. After relocating to Tampa in 1983, he joined the family in the fire sprinkler business and loved being on the job sites. It didn’t take long for people to know and love “Mr. Big Bob”. In 1995, Bob started working at Glanzer Press in Newberry, FL where the crew soon turned into forever friends. He loved serving others and enjoyed volunteering as part of the Gilchrist County Crime Watch for years. After 2002 he found himself once again working alongside family in the fire sprinkler business and worked there until he was 70. Bob wasn’t done yet! His final working years you could find him at Hart Springs Park welcoming visitors at the entrance booth and riding around on his golf cart sharing stories about his love for Gilchrist County and his family.
Bob loved watching football, playing cards, spending time with his family, and he always had a puzzle going (he was known as the “puzzle master”). Bob was a good friend to all, a man who would give his shirt for a friend or a stranger. When someone would compliment his kindness to his wife, she would say, “there is no Sweet-er-man”. He will be remembered for his big laugh, his kindness, and all the witty sayings. One of the favorites was, “the man always has the last two words in a relationship, “YES DEAR”.”
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Sharon Hatch Schwieterman, his parents, his brother William “Bill” Schwieterman, brother John “Jack” Schwieterman, sister Janet Will, brother-in-law Tom Tauscher, and son-in-law Richard “Rick” Ridenour.
He is survived by daughters, Kim Hughes, Lori Ridenour; son, Robert (Michelle) Schwieterman II; seven grandchildren, Michael Brown, Morgan Campero, Brittny (Kenny) Keeling, Jarod Ridenour, Amber (Reese) Richards, Amanda Schwieterman, and Allie Schwieterman; 13 great grandchildren, Breanna and Colby Brown, Lucas and Sophia Campero, Karlee and Kelton Keeling, Saydee and Kash Ridenour, Jase and June Richards, and Maddox, Nolan, and Maddie Sykes; sister Gail Tauscher, brother Jim (Rita) Schwieterman, sisters-in-law Judy Schwieterman and Dottie Schwieterman, and brother-in-law Mark Will, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Bob was a strong, proud, and good man. He is loved and will be missed by many!
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at the Union Baptist Church (5259 SE 75th Avenue Newberry, FL 32669, Ph: 352-472-3845) with the family greeting friends in the fellowship hall following the service.
