Nancy C. Hughes Obituary (1940

Mrs. Nancy C. Hughes, 83, of Gainesville, Florida, passed away, January 6th, 2024. Nancy was a lifelong resident of Gainesville. She was born October 4, 1940. to Eric C. and Christabel Lindsey O'Dell of Gainesville. Nancy graduated from Gainesville High School in 1958. She had a lengthy career with the Randall Malcolm VA Health Center in Gainesville, working until her retirement at age 81, in 2021. She is survived by her husband Robert E. Byrd (Gainesville) and three daughters, Kathy Galloway (Gainesville), Pamala Cason (Waycross, GA), and Elizabeth Byrd (Gainesville), three grandchildren, Leslie Galloway (Gainesville), Sean Galloway (Gainesville) and Erin Myers (Newberry, FL). In addition, three great-grandchildren, Belladonna and Bellamy Galloway (Gainesville) and Kyler Myers (Newberry, FL).Nancy was well-loved and a kind gentle person, who enjoyed reading, attending the theater, and doting on her cats. Mrs. Hughes will be laid to rest on January 13, 2024, 11:00 AM at the Prairie Creek Conservation Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations for the care of animals can be sent to the St. Francis Pet Care Clinic Gainesville, Florida or Operation Catnip, Gainesville Florida.
