Michael Dirling

–

Inglis, Florida

Ladies and Gentlemen, we are gathered here to celebrate the life of Michael David Dirling, affectionately known by many as Mike, Mikey, or Mikey D. Born on January 17, 1977, in St. Petersburg, Florida, Michael was a man who never shied away from an adventure. He lived his life to the absolute fullest, constantly seeking the thrill of the outdoors and the camaraderie of his loved ones. As Mark Twain once said, "Throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." This quote encapsulates the spirit of Michael, a man who lived his life as an adventurous, courageous, and resilient soul.

A carpenter by trade, Michael was as skilled with his hands as he was with his heart. His work was a testament to his dedication, loyalty and resilience. He also had a passion for sports; from his own achievements in BMX bike racing and football, to the simple joy of watching a game with family. But his truest loves were fishing, hunting, and the family he held dear. He was a man who enjoyed the simplicity of life, reveling in the beauty of a good catch, the thrill of the hunt, and the warmth of his family around him. As John Muir once said, "In every walk with nature, one receives far more than he seeks." Michael found his joy, his peace, and his fulfillment in the great outdoors, and in the company of those he loved.

Michael leaves behind his mother, Mildred Yazel (Terry); his siblings, Anita Cash, Bob Dirling (Lisa), Patty Dirling, and George Dirling (Sydney); his step siblings, Lynda Greene, Deanna Teasdale (PJ), Philip Yazel, and Casey Yazel; his beloved daughter, Madison Dirling; his stepchildren, Austin and Cody Roden; and his significant other, Laurie Roden. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Dirling. Michael's life was one lived with purpose, with love, and with the courage to embrace every day as a new adventure. His memory will be kept alive in the hearts of those who loved him, and in the stories they will continue to tell. As we say our goodbyes, we remember the words of A.A. Milne, "How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard." Michael was a blessing to us all, and his spirit will be deeply missed.

All are invited to share their memories, stories, and pictures of Michael on his memorial page. Services are under the care of Milam Funeral and Cremation Services at 311 S. Main Street. Please join us in commemorating this extraordinary man and the joy he brought into our lives.
