Mary Ann Andrew

Mary Ann (Ann) Andrew, 86, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 25, 2023. She was born in 1937 in West Lafayette, Indiana to Mary Ann and Charles Freistroffer. Ann met her future husband, Ray Andrew, in Lafayette at Purdue University, where they both worked. They later married there, and had three children before moving to Gainesville, Florida. They both worked at the University of Florida, and were avid Gator fans until the very end! Ann is survived by her son, Bob Andrew of Orlando; daughter, Kate Freihofer and husband, Brent, of Jensen Beach; daughter, Jules Andrew of New York, New York; younger sisters Joan Early of Wheeling, Indiana, and Lynn Altepeter and husband, Frank of Lafayette, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Jane Thieme and husband, Tom, of Carmel, Indiana, and recently by her husband of 60 years, Ray Andrew of Gainesville.Ann was known for her great sense of humor and playful personality - fortunately, those memories will live on forever. She also knew how to stand her ground, and was adamant that they live in a house until the end. They found a great retirement community, The Village of Gainesville, where they lived in a cottage in independent living and enjoyed the latter part of their retirement years. Ann enjoyed antiquing and collecting things her whole life, so that was a tough decision for her, but a good one!There will be no formal funeral services at her request.
