Martha Brown League, a beloved mother and teacher, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, August 3rd, 2025, surrounded by family. Born on August 19th, 1947, Martha spent her early childhood in Tuskegee and her high school and college years in Auburn, Alabama (War Eagle!).
A dedicated and gifted educator, Martha began her career teaching elementary school and was a Curriculum Resource Teacher for many years at Glen Springs Elementary. She was a favorite of many children who still remember her as patient, talented, and caring. Several of her fellow teachers from those early years became life-long friends, including members of her beloved Outdoor Snore group, the Girls Want to Have Fun group, and the Special Ed Pub group. After earning her PhD in Special Education, Martha spent the last twelve years of her career as a Supervisor of Field Experience and worked on various grants at the University of Florida College of Special Education. Her students there cherished her for her wisdom and inspiration.
She was a warm, loving, gentle soul who was the heart of her family and a loyal, supportive friend. She was dearly loved and will be dearly missed. Martha’s greatest joy was her family, whom she loved deeply and unconditionally.
She is survived by her husband Roger; children Ginger, Bonnie, Conner, Jennifer, David, and John; six grandchildren (we love you Nana!); her sister Ginny and her brother Tom.
She held each of us in her heart and was an ever-present source of love, kindness, grace, generosity, compassion, and the best hugs. We will feel her presence whenever we gather in love and laughter.
