Martha Elizabeth Bass Holder
November 27, 1937 – August 26, 2024
Martha passed away unexpectedly and peacefully at home on Monday, August 26. She was born on November 27, 1937 to John Bass & Sofia Elizabeth (Smith) Bass. She married James Dewey Holder on December 23, 1955. She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandma, and great grandma. She was a devout Christian who loved the Lord. She was a member of First Baptist Newberry and loved singing in their choir. She was one of the sweetest southern ladies and everyone loved her. She was a homemaker who made her house an inviting home to everyone that stopped by.
She is preceded in death by her husband, James Dewey Holder; her brothers: B.B. Bass & Bobby Bass, and a son-in-law, James Gay.
She is survived by her children: Mike (Meriam) Holder of Archer, FL, Sharon Feener of Mt. Juliet, TN, Alicia (Robert) Rodriguez of Newberry, FL, Brenda Gay of Disputanta, VA, and John (Chari) Holder of Bell, FL. Her brothers: Allen Bass of Lake Butler, FL & Monroe Bass of Ponta Gorda, FL, & Benny Bass of Homosassa, FL. Her 13 grandchildren & 19 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Milam’s in Newberry on Wednesday, August 28 from 5-7pm and services will be held at Union Baptist Church in Newberry on Thursday, August 29 at 10am with graveside to follow service.
