Luther E. "Leo" Oswalt Obituary (1936

Luther "Leo" E. Oswalt, 87, of Alachua, passed away on Friday, August 4, 2023. He was born July 27, 1936 in Tuskegee, Alabama. Leo was a proud graduate of Auburn University earning a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He served as an Officer in the United States Army for over 17 years including stints in Vietnam and Korea. Following retirement from active-duty service, he joined the US Army Corps of Engineers as a civilian. After retiring from federal service, Leo enjoyed designing, building, and flying remote control planes, tinkering in the "shop", riding his tractor, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonita "Boni" Oswalt. Survived by his daughter, Jane Oswalt of Gainesville, FL; daughter, Emily Rice and her husband, Dr. Mason Rice of Oak Ridge, TN; his beloved grandchildren, Hailey Oswalt and Walker Rice; his sister Dr. Ouida Taylor and her husband, Dr. Samuel Taylor. Funeral services will be private at Jacksonville National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association (American Diabetes Association? P.O.
