Gainesville, Florida
Linda Elaine Moulton, 35, of Gainesville, Florida passed away on October 12, 2025. Linda was Thursday's Child, born on May 24, 1990, in Statesboro, Georgia to Drs. Becky A. and Michael P. Moulton. She radiated grit and determination from the minute she entered the world and immediately became the Moulton Family's "Cannonball". From an early age, Linda was given the nickname "Cudgalactica" or "Cud" by her Dad, Mike. Linda was a deeply sensitive and creative soul who had a passion for animals, comedy, travel, children, music, film, theatre, photography, and (of course) cooking. She was gentle, loving, wise, and incredibly generous. She possessed a pure and selfless heart and was a self-described "Fulltime Oddball with a heart made of Confetti".
Linda was a Gainesvillean through and through. She loved Gainesville's history and beautiful landscapes, food and craft beer scene, and the quirky characters who make her hometown singular and unique. She attended what is now Carolyn Beatrice Parker Elementary School (known at the time as J.J. Finley Elementary), Howard Bishop Middle School, and was a student in the International Baccalaureate Program at Eastside High School in Gainesville for two years, before transferring to Interlochen Arts Academy (Interlochen, MI), where she studied Motion Picture Arts. Linda loved theatre and went on to study Stage Management at Syracuse University where she double-majored in Theatre and Religion. While at SU, she spent a semester studying abroad in Beijing at Tsinghua University.
Linda was an Artist, a Comedian, an Athlete, a Girl Scout, and a member of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Gainesville. She played soccer, basketball and ran track at the Girls Club, where she would sometimes be seen sneaking off to perform her own haka before track meets to psych herself up. Music was a part of her life from childhood; she began playing piano in elementary school and continued to grow as a musician learning flute, alto flute, piccolo, and saxophone. She would also want you to know she dabbled in playing the didgeridoo. While a student at E.H.S., she was a member of the marching band and the goalie for the JV girls' soccer team. She was a proud supporter and member of the local theatre scene in Gainesville. She took great pride in being a part of various productions at Gainesville Community Playhouse.
Linda developed a passion for cooking at an early age, studying the work of fellow chefs on Food Network, pouring over cookbooks, and was forever inventing recipes of her own. Anyone who was lucky enough to sample a "Linda Moulton Original" can attest to the extreme care and skill she possessed for culinary arts. It is no surprise that Thanksgiving was her favorite holiday, where she could share her talents and love of food with friends, family, and loved ones. Linda loved horses, nature, and wildlife. She was always eager to help her Dad on various research projects. Bound by her curiosity and love for the natural world, she began joining her Dad on research trips across the globe when she was 8 years old. Her passport was perhaps her most-prized possession. Linda continued to seek adventure through travel for the rest of her life. Stamped with pride in her passport, were trips to Australia, England, Scotland, the Netherlands, Bermuda, France, Canada, Spain, Ireland, China, South Africa, Namibia, Indonesia, Singapore, Cambodia, Malaysia, United Arab Emirates, and Thailand.
She was always wholeheartedly committed to adapting to her situation. After graduating from SU, she moved to New York City where she discovered one of her greatest loves, comedy. Linda began her foray into comedy in 2013, performing stand-up at open mics in her neighborhood Astoria, Queens. She was a Monday night regular at the Waltz-Astoria Open Mic. She took such pride in collaborating with her sketch comedy team, 301 Views. From their performances in NYC to bringing their work to the Orlando Fringe Festival, her comedy community meant the world to her. After first performing in the Edinburgh Festival Fringe with the Syracuse University Drama Department, she took her stand-up abroad to the Fringe and she returned in subsequent years as a performer and to write reviews. She nurtured precious friendships from across the globe that she built through her beloved comedy communities, DoGo PatreOns and Little Dum Dum Club. It was through her treasured friendships where she felt most seen, respected, and cared for.
Linda's wisdom, insightfulness, passion for language, wonder, and curiosity naturally led her to pursue a career working with children. While living in NYC, Linda nannied and was a superstar babysitter for many families in addition to working as a children's swim coach for SwimJim. In 2018, she left NYC and moved abroad to Phitsanulok, Thailand, where she taught ESL (English as a Second Language) at PCCPL Princess Chulabhorn's College. Linda never gave up and continued to pursue her work as an educator once returning to the U.S., even after the pandemic prevented her from being able to begin a much-awaited contract teaching ESL in Vietnam. She continued her graduate training in Education and recently began pursuing coursework as a veterinary technician. Linda loved with her whole heart. She would want you to trust your gut, laugh, embrace being a nerd, book the trip, break bread with those you love (worry about the dishes later), and always take time to look up, listen, and marvel at the beautiful planet and animals that surround you.
Linda is survived by her parents Mike and Becky Moulton, her big sis Rachel, and the Moulton Menagerie (Holly & Tucker "the goldens", and her cats Pixie, Peanut, and Pickles).
Linda will be buried at Prairie Creek Conservation Cemetery (County Road 234 Gainesville, FL 32641) on Thursday, October 30th, 2025 at 10AM. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1PM on Sunday, November 9th, 2025 at her favorite local brewery, Cypress & Grove (1001 NW 4th Street, Gainesville, FL 32601).
In lieu of flowers, please consider planting something in your garden, try baking a new recipe, or make a donation in her memory to Saving Nature (SavingNature.com), an organization Linda admired for their work to restore and protect earth's biodiversity.
