Kara Julie Wigington-Anderson Obituary (1965 - 2026)

Kara Julie Wigington Anderson, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away peacefully after complications following a double lung transplant in Gainesville, Florida. She left this world on the very night she was released to return home—just as she was preparing to begin a renewed chapter of life she had so greatly anticipated. Born in Seneca, South Carolina, Julie carried her Southern roots with grace, warmth, and strength throughout her life. She was a proud graduate of Winthrop University and WUNC, and a cherished member of the Delta Zeta sorority, where she formed lifelong friendships and memories. Julie was a woman of deep faith, resilience, and love for her family. She faced life’s challenges with courage and held onto hope, especially as she looked forward to the promise of new beginnings following her transplant. Though her time was cut far too short, her spirit, strength, and unwavering faith remain an inspiration to all who knew her. She is survived by her devoted husband, Kenneth “Chip” G. Anderson, Jr.; her beloved children, Brooke and Brian Hamby; her loving mother, Nancy; her stepfather, Charlie Young; her sisters, Pam McKinney and Lisa Wigington; and her cherished grandchildren, Liam Hamby, and Kara Manning Norris. She was preceded in death by her father, Jerry Wigington. Julie’s life was defined by her love for family, her faith in the Lord, and her enduring hope. Though she had looked forward to a new life, she was called home sooner than expected to join the angels and rest in the arms of our Lord. A memorial service celebrating Julie’s life will be held on May 12th at Lakewood Methodist Church, Jacksonville, FL. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
