Eugene Willard Pass, lovingly known as Gene, was born on July 8, 1946, in Atlanta, Georgia. He was a beacon of love, dedication, and joy who left an indelible mark on everyone who had the honor of knowing him. His jovial spirit, thoughtful nature, and infectious laughter brought warmth and light into our lives. Gene had the unique ability to make everyone feel loved and appreciated.
Gene spent his life serving others with unwavering dedication while demonstrating strength, leadership and resilience. He served in the United States Army from 1967-1973 in the 82nd Airborne as a Staff Sergeant. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star Medal awarded for heroic efforts in a combat zone of which he earned during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged and later transferred into the Florida National Guard. He dedicated 30 years, retiring as a Lieutenant, to Gainesville Fire Rescue. His commitment to his profession was only surpassed by his devotion to his family, who mattered most to him. He was a beloved husband to his wife of 49 years, Debbie, a doting father to his daughter, Amber Dean (Diamond Dean) and son, Kevin Pass, and Poppy to the light of his life, Liam Dean. He was a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. His favorite pastimes were hunting and spending quality time with his family. He was also a devoted servant of God, always guided by his firm faith.
Although Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Willard Pass and Elise Green, his legacy continues through his family and the countless lives he touched. The visitation will be held at Milam Celebration Center, 22405 West Newberry Road, Newberry, Florida, 32669, on Friday, June 7, 2024, at 6:00pm.
