Constance Dunaway

Constance (“Connie”) Durham Dunaway, aged 92, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior at 1:52 a.m. on October 1, 2024, with loving family at her bedside.
“Miz Connie” was born in Gainesville, Florida on November 10, 1931, the first child and daughter of W. C. Durham and Sarah Freeman Durham. She was raised in the family home at 1313 S. W. 14th Street, and graduated from P.K. Yonge Laboratory School prior to studying at the University of Florida. She additionally studied at Kent State University.
She married Frank Rosser Dunaway, Jr. on June 1, 1952, and shared 64 years of married life with him, until he preceded her in death in 2016. During their marriage, they were privileged to travel throughout the country and the world and to make their home in more than a dozen towns throughout the U.S. She most recently resided at Fleet Landing in Atlantic Beach, Florida.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Ruth Marie West and her husband. She is survived by her three sons; Frank R. Dunaway, III (Amy), W. Neal Dunaway (Katie) and Geoffrey K. A. Dunaway (Anastasia), eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
She is a Daughter of the American Revolution and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Sigma Kappa sorority.

A memorial service will be held at Fleet Landing at 4:00 p.m. on October 11, 2024 with graveside services and burial on October 12, 2024 in Gainesville.
