Walton “Broward” Hunter, Jr.

Gainesville lost a kind, generous soul, Walton “Broward” Hunter, Jr. on August 12, 2025. He was 86. Broward lived here from university days forward. He was born in Lake County, Florida, attended schools there and graduated from Edgewater Hight School in Orlando. He attended Marion Military Academy and the University of Florida.

His career revolved around technology. His first adventure was in Solar in Micanopy, Florida in the 1970’s, a pioneer group. Later he evolved into computers, opening his own installation company for small businesses. His hobbies included photography, diving, biking, drag racing, and gaming. He loved animals. Snowball, Lightfoot, Moe and Precious were family. He was a generous friend and a philanthropic donor to multiple causes and charities. He leaves behind his friends Steve and family, Lena and many old friends and their children and several cousins. The children remember him as the most generous Santa in their lives. Broward followed Buddhism and attended the local temple. Broward lived a life of kindness and will be missed.
