Aaviel “Aavi” Juvon Hester-Guadalupe, age 21, of Gainesville, FL, formerly of Carolina, Puerto Rico, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on April 13, 2025.
Aavi was born on April 28, 2003, in Durham, NC, to Kimberly Guadalupe and Travis Hester. From an early age, Aavi’s light shone brightly—through his laughter, his energy, and his boundless love for life.
Aavi was best known for his incredible passion and natural gift for basketball. His technique and hustle on the court were more than just skill—they were art. When he moved to Gainesville in eighth grade, even though the season was nearly over, he quickly made a name for himself, earning the nickname “The Rican King.” His freshman year, he broke the Buchholz High School record for assists and earned a starting varsity point guard position by his sophomore year.
Off the court, Aavi was a joyful prankster, always keeping his loved ones on their toes and laughing. He felt most at peace near water—whether at the beach, floating down a river, diving into springs, or swimming in pools. A thrill-seeker at heart, he loved extreme sports, adored dogs, and cherished every moment of life. But nothing compared to the love he had for his son, Ezekiel, who was his greatest joy and brightest light.
Aavi is survived by his beloved son Ezekiel; his devoted mother Kimberly; fathers Travis and Gaspar; brothers Jabari and Jeremiah; sisters Anniah, Aaliyah, and Aaiysha; grandparents Vicki and Jorge; three aunts; and two uncles.
A Celebration of Life service for Aavi will be held on Friday, April 18, 2025, from 12:00pm-4:00pm in the chapel at Milam Funeral Home.
